Why use proxies on PlayStation
Sony PlayStation owners on PS3, PS4, PS5 or Vita usually buy proxies for two reasons: switching the PSN region and bypassing regional blocks. The same games in Turkish, Indian or other regional PSN stores are noticeably cheaper, and with the right proxy you can buy them legally through your PSN account.
Sometimes a proxy is needed the other way around: to restore access to a regional PSN if your provider IP got blocked, or to lower ping in multiplayer by routing through a closer server.
Important: IP whitelisting only
Sony built a limitation into PlayStation: the console cannot pass a login and password to a proxy server. Network settings only have address and port fields. So when buying a proxy for PS, take a plan with IP whitelisting - you add the IP of your home internet in your account, and the proxy works without further auth.
If you buy a regular proxy with login and password, PlayStation simply will not connect to it. This is a common mistake among new users.
Which proxies fit
- IPv4 - the universal pick, works with PSN of any region.
- Residential proxies - look like normal home internet, less likely to raise PSN flags.
- IP from the country whose store you need - Turkish PSN requires a Turkish IP, Indian needs an Indian one, and so on.
How to set it up
On the console, go to Settings - Network - Set Up Internet Connection. Choose Custom, then enter the proxy IP and port. There is no login or password field on PS, that is the catch. If your IP is whitelisted on the ProxyMania side, it will work right away.
What ProxyMania offers
- IPs in 30+ countries, including popular PSN regions: Turkey, India, USA, UAE, Argentina.
- IP whitelisting with the option to add several of your home IPs.
- Unrestricted speed, no throttling on game downloads or updates.
- Support helps with PS network setup if something does not connect.
If you play on PS4 or PS5 and want to save on games or bypass blocks, an IP-bound proxy is a simple solution. Purchase takes a couple of minutes, IP whitelisting is done in your account.
